Using dKart Navigator or dKart Explorer systems a navigator has a power of route planning. It is possible to specify waypoints, deviation limits, gyration radius and other parameters both in numerical form and directly on the chart.

With an autopilot connected to the system, dKart Navigator is able to control ship movement along a planned route.

The ‘rhumb-line tracking’ is a standard mode of route planning used for all versions of the dKart electronic cartographic systems. In this mode a route is being produced as rectilinear segments in the Mercator projection. This technique of the route planning is frequently used for a short distance navigation

The ‘Great Circle planing’ is a more preferable mode due to the fact it takes into account the Earth configuration. This technique of the route planning is used for a large distance navigation. The great circle route planning allows to plan the shortest possible track of a ship.

This function enables a navigator to check if a planned route has navigational obstacles, hazardous depth areas, areas with specific navigation conditions.

This function provides for an export / import of route data.  E.g. by using this function a navigator can exchange route data with other ships.

A route data exchange between an electronic cartographic system and external navigation aids, e.g. the route date export from a GPS receiver to the dKart Navigator electronic cartographic system makes another opportunity.  The data exchange is being carried out with the use of WPL and RTE messages according to the IEC 61162-1 (NMEA-0183) protocol.

dKart Navigator is also capable of exporting data to Microsoft Excel format that makes ship-to-ship or ship-to-office routes data exchange easy.
